Product Properties Applications

Solvent: Decahydronaphthalene is used as a solvent for many paint coatings. As solvents for resins, wax, oil, paint and plastics, decahydronaphthalene improves liquidity, glossiness and smoothness of coating.

Fuel Cell: As a hydrogen storage material, decahydronaphthalene is the best intermediate used as automobile fuel cell, having significant hydrogen supply capacity. Advantages, including high efficiency, low energy, good cost performance, safety and easy portability, make decahydronaphthalene is the best choice of being hydrogen source for fuel cell.

High Performance Fiber: Decahydronaphthalene is used as the best solvent in dry spinning technology to manufacture ultra high molecular weight polyethylene fiber. Decahydronaphthalene has strong dissolving capacity to dissolve ultra high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) in low temperature. Inert gas purging separates decahydronaphthalene easily from high polymers due to its volatile property.

Liquid Crystal: Decahydronaphthalene is used to manufacture the top grade TFT liquid crystal display material, as trans-decalin liquid crystal, made by decahydronaphthalene, further widens the nematic phase temperature range of mixed liquid crystal formula decreasing the threshold voltage and increasing the respond speed.

Fuel: Mixed with benzene and ethyl alcohol, decahydronaphthalene is used as fuel for internal combustion engine. The thermal stability of trans-decalin is stronger than long-chain alkane, making trans-decalin is the essential addictive to improve aviation kerosene thermal stability.
